Contract questions when replacing a MAM manager
This post is also available in Persian ←

When replacing a MAM manager, distinguish ending old authority, accepting the new manager and handling open positions. Disconnection, settlement and responsibility transfer need not occur together.
Replacing a MAM manager means more than changing a name on a subaccount page. Earlier authority must end through a valid process, the incoming manager must accept defined responsibility, and position status must remain clear. Contracts and host capabilities determine which parts of that route are feasible.
Identify the type of change first
Is only the manager changing, or also the account, host, allocation method and fee terms? Moving between different structures may require fresh agreements and review. A shared MAM label does not establish technical compatibility or automatic preservation of earlier terms.
Who terminates earlier authority?
Separate the request channel, effective time and confirmation evidence. Sending a cancellation request does not prove that trading access has ended. Where the host executes revocation, confirmation from that process matters. Login details, passwords and unrestricted access must not be sent through public messages to simplify the change.
A hypothetical responsibility gap
Suppose the previous manager’s connection has stopped but two positions remain open. The incoming manager may not have agreed to manage them. Disconnection alone then does not establish responsibility for stops, pending orders or responses. This is not an instruction to close trades; it illustrates the gap between disconnecting and handing over responsibility.
Contract questions before replacement
- What notice period and termination conditions apply?
- Who controls remaining positions and orders?
- How are final fees and calculation disputes reviewed?
- When does new authority begin, and under which limits?
- What is the account’s status if the new connection fails?
Avoid overlapping authority
Simultaneous requests can blur managers’ operating boundaries. Document the host’s accepted sequence and required confirmations. A timeline helps identify responsibility but does not replace technical action or valid agreement. Checking whether steps are complete differs from having permission to perform them.
Retain history and costs through handover
The final report for the earlier period should show balances, cash flows, charges and open positions at a specified time. The incoming manager’s opening basis should reconcile to that record. Do not silently transfer discrepancies into the next manager’s profit or loss; retain reasons and sources for corrections.
Ending cooperation does not erase records
Keep records needed for reporting and dispute handling under applicable rules, while restricting unnecessary access through official procedures. When reviewing accounts, distinguish supported replacement routes from assumptions. Consult the help center for available guidance. This article is not a ready-made contract, guarantees no transfer and confirms no product support for every manager-replacement scenario.
