What is dedicated account management? The traditional method, its risks and safer alternatives
This post is also available in Persian ←

In dedicated management, the investor gives the account password to a manager to trade directly. This educational article honestly explains how this traditional method works, where its risks are, and why safer alternatives like PAMM accounts were built.
Dedicated account management is the oldest way of entrusting money to a trader: you open the account yourself, hand the master password to the manager, and they trade directly on your account. This method still exists in the market, and at PAMM Iran we still provide it for those who insist on it; but this article is not an invitation to it. It is an honest educational explanation: how this method works, where its risks are, and why a safer generation of methods was built so you never need to give your password to anyone.
How does dedicated account management actually work?
- The investor opens a trading account at their chosen broker and deposits the money themselves.
- The account master password is given to the manager so they can buy and sell.
- The manager trades at their own discretion; the investor watches the result with the investor (view-only) password.
- The manager share of profit is settled by mutual agreement, usually manually; there is no automatic mechanism for splitting profit, loss or fees.
That very simplicity has been both this method attraction and the root of most of its troubles.
The risks you should know before choosing this method
- The master password means full trading authority: its holder cannot withdraw money to another person account (withdrawals normally return only to your own accounts), but they can destroy the capital in days with disproportionate size or relentless trading; this model has no automatic drawdown cap tool.
- Disputes over money: because profit sharing is manual and based on verbal or message agreements, the most common disputes are exactly over “how much was the profit and where is my share”.
- No unified, verifiable record: the manager performance is scattered across several accounts, and the next investor has no simple way to review it independently.
- Binary control: either the manager has the password or not; mid-way, apart from changing the password and cutting everything off, you have no way to reduce their authority.
- Dependence on one person with no mechanism behind them: the manager illness, disagreement or disappearance affects your account directly.
Our transparent position: an old method, safer alternatives
At PAMM Iran we consider this method “deprecated but available”: it is provided for anyone who consciously wants it with a clear contract, but we do not recommend it to any newcomer, because the new generation of methods was built precisely to remove these risks. In a PAMM account your money stays in your own account, the manager never has your master password, profit, loss and fees are split automatically under pre-announced rules, and the manager record is published and reviewable. In copy trading the trades are copied onto your own account and you can disconnect at any moment. We have placed this generation beside the traditional method so the choice is made with open eyes.
If, despite all this, you still want dedicated management
- A written contract with a drawdown cap, allowed size and a fee-settlement method; a verbal agreement means a future dispute.
- Start with a small test amount and review daily with the investor password.
- Set the number beyond which the password is changed the same day and the cooperation stops.
- Never give the master password to a stranger from social media for a “one-week test”; most losses of this method started exactly there.
Before any decision, see managers with published records in the trading accounts list and read the record-review method in our guide to choosing an account manager; when a transparent record is available, handing your password to an unverified record is not a defensible choice.
Frequently asked questions
Is giving the master password to a manager safe? Withdrawing money to others accounts is normally impossible, but trading authority is complete, and that alone is enough to destroy capital. This method security rests on personal trust, not on mechanism; and trust without the possibility of review is not a solid foundation.
What is the difference between dedicated management and a PAMM account? In dedicated management the manager holds the password and profit is split manually; in a PAMM account the password stays with you, the manager trades through the platform mechanism, and profit, loss and fees are split automatically and transparently. The details are in the PAMM account article.
Why is this method still offered at all? Because some long-standing investors work with a specific manager under a clear contract in exactly this model, and removing it entirely would ignore their real need. But a method being offered does not mean it is recommended to everyone; we consider the main road to be the new methods, and this page exists for education, not promotion.
How are dedicated management fees calculated? Usually a percentage of profit with manual settlement at the end of the period — and that manual nature is precisely the source of most disputes. In the new methods, the fee is deducted automatically under announced rules, and you see its figure before you start.
The bottom line
Dedicated account management is a traditional method the market has moved past: simple, but resting on blind trust with no automatic brake. If today you want a professional manager to run your money, look at the safer alternatives first; and if you consciously choose the old method, enter with a contract, a test amount and a clear drawdown cap. It is your money, and your right to demand a safer mechanism.
