Defining manager authority in a dedicated account mandate
This post is also available in Persian ←

In dedicated management, define trading authority, setting changes and fund transfers separately. Contract labels are insufficient; limits must align with actual access and revocation procedures.
Dedicated management does not mean unlimited manager authority. An agreement should identify permitted actions, decisions requiring separate approval and prohibited activity. Actual account access must also match those boundaries; a general sentence on paper does not itself impose a technical restriction.
Divide authority into reviewable groups
Placing and cancelling orders, changing quantities, setting limits, adding instruments, changing account details and transferring funds are different actions. Trading permission must not automatically become withdrawal permission or authority to change payment destinations. Specify responsibility, scope and approval conditions for each group, keeping fund ownership separate from operational authority.
Limits need units and timing
Reasonable risk is insufficient as an undefined review standard. If quantity, exposure or loss limits are stated, clarify their basis and measurement time. Explain what happens after a breach or when data is unavailable. Setting a threshold guarantees neither execution at that price nor absence of further loss.
A hypothetical mismatch between access and agreement
Suppose the agreement permits only trading, while delivered access also allows security-setting changes. A contractual prohibition does not remove that operational capability. Appropriate access should be reviewed through official host procedures. This example requests no password, private key or withdrawal test.
What belongs in an authority table?
- The action and covered instrument or account.
- Base permission and its limit or condition.
- Prior-approval requirements and approving authority.
- Technical access and evidence of its review.
- Restriction, revocation and exception-handling procedures.
Do not turn an exception into permanent permission
Permission for one action in a particular situation should not silently become indefinite authority. Define the exception’s subject, duration and recording responsibility. Changes in authority require a valid agreement process; a short message or user silence alone does not establish every kind of consent.
Fund transfers have a separate boundary
Transfers and withdrawals should use officially permitted routes and only registered, approved destinations of the entitled beneficiary. Another person’s account is not a shortcut. Banking or identity information needed for review must not appear in public contract descriptions either. Do not conflate custody, account ownership and trading authority when describing the service.
Understand revocation before an urgent need
Ending access, handling open orders and assigning follow-up responsibility should be understandable in advance. When reviewing accounts, read management methods alongside authority boundaries. Managers can introduce service scope without private documents through a cooperation inquiry. This framework replaces neither legal review of a particular contract nor host-security assessment, and guarantees no automatic enforcement of every restriction.
