When a PAMM manager changes strategy

Review a PAMM strategy change against authority, effective dates and risk differences. Do not automatically extend the old track record to a new method or treat notification as acceptance.
A PAMM manager may change instruments, holding periods or entry and exit rules. Changes differ in significance, but an unchanged account name does not establish unchanged risk. Investors should be able to identify what changed, when it took effect and which authority allowed it.
Separate ordinary execution from a strategy change
Adjusting one order’s timing within existing rules differs from adding instruments or raising exposure limits. Service documents should make the definition of a material change reviewable. A manager describing a revision as an improvement does not establish its significance; the difference between old and new rules must be clear.
Build a before-and-after table
Compare permitted instruments, leverage use, typical holding periods, loss limits and exit conditions. Even when trading details are confidential, risk scope and authority can be explained without disclosing order logic. Do not fill unknown fields with an assumption that everything remains unchanged.
A hypothetical limit on extending past history
Suppose the reported history mostly concerns short-duration trades, while the revised method permits multi-day positions. Holding costs and exposure to gaps between sessions may change. This predicts no profit or loss; it explains why the earlier chart alone is insufficient evidence for new behaviour.
Read notification, authority and acceptance separately
- What precisely changes, and what reason has been given?
- What are the effective date and covered accounts?
- Which contractual clause governs change authority?
- What valid notice or agreement is required?
- What exit routes and restrictions apply if an investor does not accept?
Keep the transition period in the report
Positions from the earlier method may remain open when the revised method starts. Their responsibility, costs and transition-period reporting should remain clear. Marking the change date supports interpretation; it does not justify deleting earlier losses or constructing an apparently spotless new history.
Ask questions that can be answered
Rather than seeking a guarantee that risk cannot increase, ask about specific limits and drivers. For example, ask whether permitted instruments or holding periods change and where updated documents can be found. A promise of rapid recovery does not explain the method. Receiving a message alone does not establish legal acceptance either.
Review does not mean an immediate exit instruction
Entry, continued participation and exit require independent consideration of individual circumstances and contractual terms. In account information, read history alongside strategy-change dates. Managers can explain method versions in a cooperation inquiry. This framework guarantees no performance, gives no legal opinion on a particular contract and claims no automated system detecting every change.
Compare the track record, drawdown and costs of PAMM, MAM and copy-trading accounts, with the source and time of every figure.
