PAMM or MAM? Choosing between the two collective methods
This post is also available in Persian ←

The structural difference between PAMM and MAM in capital custody, investor control and trade allocation — and who each fits.
PAMM and MAM are both “collective management”, but that is where the similarity ends. The right choice depends on how much control and visibility you want.
The core differences
| Aspect | PAMM | MAM |
|---|---|---|
| Where capital sits | A share in the manager’s pooled account | A separate sub-account in your name |
| Trade split | Pro-rata by share | Adjustable multiplier or lots |
| Your control | Entry/exit at settlement intervals | More; you can see your own sub-account |
Which one is for you?
If simplicity and full delegation matter most, look at PAMM. If you want your own sub-account and control over lot allocation, MAMM fits better. In both cases, read each account’s terms individually.
Compare both in the account list filtered by method, and read the structural guide to methods.
Frequently asked questions
Which one earns more? The method does not decide profit; the manager and their trading behaviour do. Comparing PAMM and MAM compares structure, not returns.
Is MAM lower risk? Not necessarily. A separate sub-account gives more visibility and control, but risk follows the manager’s behaviour and the market.
Can I use both at once? Yes; diversifying across methods is itself one level of diversification. Read each account’s style and terms separately.
Can I use both structures at the same time? Yes; there is no conflict. Many investors keep part of their capital in PAMM for simplicity and part in MAM for sub-account transparency. That is itself one level of diversification: structure diversification, separate from manager and method. Just manage both exit terms together.

A structure-choice checklist
- Sit down and write: how much control and visibility do I want?
- If simplicity wins, PAMM; if a separate sub-account, MAM
- Compare fee and exit terms of both
- Build experience with a small account in each structure
