Brokers and trading infrastructure
Take demo seriously: the bridge most people skip
This post is also available in Persian ←

A demo account is where you test strategy and broker infrastructure for free; taken seriously, it prevents the most expensive live mistakes.
A demo account is free, and that is exactly why most investors do not take it seriously. A big mistake.
What demo is for
- Infrastructure test: order execution, slippage, the platform — without real cost.
- Process test: your stop losses, position sizing and reactions to market moves.
- Nerve test: can you sleep through a paper loss? A real one is twice as hard.
Demo’s limit
Demo does not simulate the feeling of real money; so passing demo means “the process was tested”, not “profitability was proven”. After demo, start with a small, tolerable amount and measure your own behaviour.
On starting right: the start guide and the risk guide.
Frequently asked questions
How long should I stay on demo? Until your process (stops, sizing, reactions) has become repeatable. Calendar time doesn’t matter; repeatability does.
Does a profitable demo mean I am ready? No; a profitable demo means the process worked — with paper money. The real test is a small real amount.
Who provides the demo? The brokers themselves; take your target broker’s demo so you test that broker’s infrastructure.
How long should I stay on demo? Until three things are proven: the broker’s execution is acceptable for your style, your process (stops and sizing) runs without exceptions, and your paper losses are bearable. After that, small real money is the fourth test: your own behaviour.
Summary
Demo trains the process; a small live account trains the nerves. Do them in sequence. Start guide.
Demo is for three things
- Testing broker infrastructure: execution, slippage, platform
- Testing your process: stops and sizing
- Testing your nerves with paper losses
- A profitable demo = the process worked, not certain profit
- After demo, a small real amount
