Deactivating or deleting your account

Deactivation versus deletion, automatic deactivation after inactivity, the cooling-off period, and what the law requires us to keep.

In this guide Temporary deactivation Automatic deactivation after inactivity Deleting the account What is kept?

All of these settings are under Account & deletion.

Temporary deactivation

If you are stepping away for a while, deactivate the account:

  • All sessions and devices are signed out.
  • You only receive security messages.
  • Your public manager page, if you have one, is hidden.
  • Your data, history, cards and subscriptions stay as they are.

To come back, sign in and press “Reactivate my account”.

Automatic deactivation after inactivity

You can choose to have the account deactivated if you do not sign in for 3, 6 or 12 months. We warn you by email or SMS a few days before; signing in once restarts the count. It is useful if you worry about an abandoned account or a lost device.

Deleting the account

  1. Under Account & deletion, optionally give a reason and confirm with your password.
  2. Until the cooling-off period shown on the page ends (14 days by default), you can press “Cancel deletion” at any time.
  3. After that the account is deleted: your name, email, mobile and sign-in are removed and it cannot be restored.

These must be settled first; the page tells you exactly which one is left:

  • a wallet balance (withdraw or spend it)
  • an open currency conversion order
  • a wallet top-up waiting for confirmation
  • an unpaid payout request

What is kept?

Under anti-money-laundering law, financial records (transactions, invoices, payouts) and verification documents are kept, encrypted, for the legal retention period and are never shown on any page. Your national code is released and does not stop you from opening a new account.
