What is TARAZ?
TARAZ is a module for recording and settling performance fees in supported arrangements. Depending on the current setup, fees may be calculated against a high-water mark (HWM), with part of a share held in escrow for a defined period. The TARAZ page is the reference for current terms, status and available options.
Where TARAZ actually appears
TARAZ is not automatically active on every account or all eight methods. A relationship uses a supported TARAZ path only when its record and terms appear on the account page, in the relationship form or in the TARAZ desk. Selecting TARAZ on an account form alone creates neither settlement nor escrow, and TARAZ does not replace the fee terms on the account, a wallet or a broker account.
What does escrow mean?
Escrowed funds are released or returned under the process and terms of that particular arrangement. Escrow alone does not make a fee fair, guarantee that an account will profit or protect capital, or prevent a dispute. Read the current terms for the period, percentages and permitted decisions; do not assume a fixed value from this guide.
Before accepting
- Clarify how profit is calculated, how HWM works, how deposits and withdrawals are treated, and when settlement occurs.
- Check what share is held, for how long and under which conditions.
- Read the conditions for release, return of funds or dispute review.
- Compare reported history with its data source, fees and account terms.
TARAZ is not an investment method or capital insurance. For account-data and behaviour review, see SANJESH; for fee basics, read fees and costs.
