Two kinds of MetaTrader password
- Master (trader) password: can open and close trades.
- Investor (read-only) password: can only view the account and trades; no trading.
For a live data connection, enter the investor password only in the service’s official secure form; do not send it to a manager. Never give anyone your master password or broker-portal access to “check” your account.
Safety tips
- Download platforms only from the broker's or developer's official website.
- Change passwords regularly.
- Run robots on a reputable virtual server (marketplace).
